Commissioning a building is a complex process, requiring many participants. The West Parking Garage at New York City's La Guardia International Airport includes an emergency power supply system that requires operational testing of circuit breakers, panelboards, switchgear, and generating equipment. The final "pull the plug" operational test is an exciting effort by builders, designers, and operating staff to ensure smooth performance of safety and emergency features. I have always held respect for the many technical personnel who give so much in so many ways, small and large, and decided to photograph as much of the process as I could.
